We are very excited about the release of this newsletter as it lays out some details of our most recent trip to South Sudan in the first two weeks of March. Our purpose of the trip was to re-start a previous reconciliation initative that had been unfortunately discontinued. The director of the project, Rudwan Dawod, along with Sudan Sunrise staff Tom Prichard and Alexa Brand, as well as a journalist from France24 Caroline Dumay, made the trip to Torit to meet with church officials who expressed their gratitude and enthusiasm for an interreligious reconciliation project that would rebuild a Catholic cathedral that had been twice destroyed by Islamists from the north. Over the course of the two weeks we were there, we were able to meet with Christian authorities, a local imam, and Muslim volunteers who all expressed their enthusiasm and committment to peace and reconciliation.
