Successful Meeting with the Parish Council in Torit

Tom, Alexa and Rudwan had quite the successful meeting today with the parish council and Catholic clergy in Torit. Rudwan spoke of who he used to be in the past, and his present and future committment to peace and reconciliation between Sudan and South Sudan, as well as Christians and Muslims. Sudan Sunrise is in South Sudan!

  For the week of March 10-18th, we are in Juba and Torit, South Sudan regarding our interreligious reconciliation project in Torit. We are working on an initiative to rebuild a Catholic cathedral that had been twice-destroyed by Islamists. Churches Burned in Yida Refugee Camp

Sudan Sunrise has been made aware that in late January, three churches were burned to the ground in Yida refugee camp. The Christian and Muslim refugees from the Nuba mountains live in peace in this camp in South Sudan. Reports from Yida suggest these were the acts of outside agitators who have expressed their solidarity with ISIS.
